Condition report

Good. An honest, handled copy with a shop price sticker and a bit of old tape on the front and a well-rubbed spine edge on the back, but the black-and-white photo pages inside are clean and strong. There is also a small tear at the front right edge and chips along the back spine edge. Every mark is in the photos.

Front: a round blue '$3.50' price sticker sits over the title at upper right; a piece of old clear tape with a small blue fleck under it at the lower left corner, with scuffing around it; rubbing along the left (spine) edge, a small nick at the upper right edge, faint dents in the bottom margin, and general light soiling on the gray; a small tear at the right edge near the top, level with the price; a small tear at the right edge near the top, level with the price. Back: heavy rubbing and whitening along the full right (spine) edge with small chips and a little loss at mid-right, scuffs in the purple band at top, a few white scratch marks in the upper right of the photo, and small dark spots near the left edge of the photo; chips along the spine edge, mostly at mid-height; chips along the spine edge, mostly at mid-height. Inside: the black-and-white pages photographed (including page 9) are clean with even, light toning and a few tiny specks; one page has a slightly uneven, nicked right edge.

The story

A Plowright Publication with a grey card cover, a printed price of $5. and a later $3.50 sticker on top, The Boys in the Bed opens on two men stretched out on flowered pillowcases, already hard, already lending each other a hand and in no hurry to get up.

The "Fully Illustrated Story" plays out in close, grainy black-and-white. Page 9 has one man taking it from behind and another with his face buried between a pair of hairy cheeks, then the action heads outdoors for a blow job against a wall of shrubs and back indoors against striped wallpaper. The back cover, under a purple "Not For Sale To Minors" banner, squeezes a third man into the bed with his legs straight up between the other two.
