Front: clean, bright and flat, with crisp edges and corners; an old "ADULTS GWN 2.50" price sticker sits in the upper part of the brown title band, slightly yellowed; a couple of tiny dark specks in the white of the drawing near the lower edge. Back: the plain tan GP cover has a yellowish toned band running the full length of the left (spine-side) edge, faint scattered light brown spotting across the panel, a small white scuff to the right of the GP logo, a tiny dark speck near the lower right and a small nick on the upper right edge. Inside: the gray title/order page is clean apart from a few tiny specks in the lower half and a slightly paler band along the bottom and right edges; on the easel drawing page, print from the reverse shows through faintly in the white canvas area at right; the other two full-page drawings are clean with bright white margins.
The story

Art Portfolio Number Two, "Featuring the Works of Peter Randolph," carries a 1966 Guild Press Ltd. copyright, and its cover drawing is two soldiers pressed together in the grass with mountains behind them, faces close. It's tender and it's hot, and it sets the tone for everything inside.

Each plate is signed Peter Randolph and set in a white frame: a nude stretched long above an easel with one hand on the canvas, a dark-haired man tugging his briefs down, and a bat-winged devil with hairy legs, a tail and nothing on but a pouch. The inside cover offered the originals at $15.00 each from Guild Book Service in Washington, D.C., asked buyers to name second choices, and added that "the artist is not interested in accepting any commissions or freelance work."
