The story
Parisian Press didn't bother hiding who the draw was. Every picture in Bold Studs is credited to "the famous and distinguished photographer, BOBCO," and he'd earned the billing. Bobco had been sharing pages with Bob Mizer's Athletic Model Guild since at least 1965, when the two of them split Double Exposure between them. Issue one gives the spotlight to Tony Wilson and John Adams, with nothing on and nothing to apologize for.
Look at the return address, too. Parisian Press worked out of 30 Sheridan Street in San Francisco, the same address Le Salon was using to put out AMG's Desperados in 1982. A lot of very naked men passed through that one building on their way to somebody's mailbox.

Why it matters
Bobco shot for the same mail-order crowd as Bob Mizer and shared magazines with his Athletic Model Guild, but Bold Studs is all his. It's issue number one from Parisian Press in San Francisco, a five-dollar debut with every photo credited to Bobco and Tony Wilson and John Adams leading the cast.
