The story
Late 1977 was the year Anita Bryant's campaign in Dade County turned gay rights into a national fight, and this issue of In Touch answers her the way the magazine answered most things, with a wink. The contents list fiction titled How I Became a Vampire, Anita Bryant, a report on a night when the stars stood up for gay rights, and Oscar Wilde as a legacy for gays, alongside San Francisco cowboys, Austin and San Diego, where it ain't just the sailors.
John Holmes gets a piece of his own, and the back cover is a full-page RUSH ad, the poppers brand selling itself as liquid incense to men who knew exactly what it was for. Politics, travel, a ballet star and a bottle of RUSH, all in one bi-monthly out of Los Angeles.
