The story
By the fall of 1978 disco was the national soundtrack, and In Touch For Men gave it a whole issue: a New York club report billed as like dyin' and goin' to heaven, a disco sampler, nightlife listings and Robert Wagner on the cover lines at 48. In Touch came out of Los Angeles every two months and mixed travel, celebrities, fiction and politics in with its nude men, which is exactly why it reads like a diary of gay life in the late seventies.
The masthead's careful line that publishing someone's photo is no indication of their sexual orientation is pure period, and the back cover's illustrated LUBE ad tells you who the advertisers were talking to. This is the scene at full volume, the year before the backlash got louder.
