Condition report
Good. There's a ghost of an old price stamp under the masthead and a little edge rub, and the rest is crisp for a 1968 digest. Every mark is in the photos.

The story
DSI was founded in Minneapolis in 1963 by Lloyd Spinar and Conrad Germain, and by 1967 it was arguably the largest gay-owned business in the country, selling physique magazines, directories, slides and more through the mail. That same year federal prosecutors brought obscenity charges against the two men over their magazines, and Judge Earl Larson threw the case out. The ruling opened the door for full-frontal male nudity to move through the mail.
Mack is what came through that door. This is Issue 1, a 1968 first printing, and the cover model is not wearing a posing strap or anything else above the knees. The back cover pushes the free DSI catalog, a reminder that this was a business built on mail-order intimacy, men in small towns writing to a Minneapolis post office box for the pictures they could not buy at home.
