Fair

Fair, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. Both covers are heavily creased and crazed, the edges are rubbed and fraying, and the spine edge has taken a beating. There's a black marker mark and a strip of clear tape on the front and a pencil note on the back. The color is still strong under all that wear, and this is Al Parker, so it earns its place.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Front: heavy crazing and crease lines across the whole cover, worst along the spine edge and the upper right. A black marker mark sits on the cover model's chest, partly over a strip of clear tape (it looks like a 3 with a few extra strokes). Edges rubbed. Back: heavy crazing and creasing throughout, "12-6" in pencil at lower center, and rubbed, frayed edges.

THE STORY BEHIND THE OBJECT.

WHY IT MATTERS

Al Parker was the gay porn star of his era, and this Colt Studio album is all about him, with Colt men Mike Davis, Bob Bishop, Tony Romano, Toby and Wolf Dehner along for the ride. If you only ever own one Parker piece, make it this one.

OBJECT STORY

Colt Studio’s The Al Parker Album is a Parker showcase with a supporting cast: Mike Davis, Bob Bishop and Tony Romano on the front, Toby and Wolf Dehner on the back, “…and more.” $8.50 cover price, “A Presentation of Colt Studio,” from 1982.

The front is open denim, a bare chest and a full beard; the back is a sweaty face-sitting shot against a barn wall, with a leather-and-helmet inset of Wolf Dehner. This copy has been handled hard: heavy creasing across both covers, rubbed edges, a black marker mark and a strip of clear tape on the front, and “12-6” in pencil on the back.
