The story
No. 2 of Young Cadets in Action comes from Nova, as the logo on the back cover announces, and it plays the military-academy fantasy straight. In "Studying Hard," Mark and Bob are two cadets kept after class who pass dirtier and dirtier notes while their teacher sits at the front of the room. On page 16, Coach Hamilton follows the noise to a small study room off the main library and finds Bill and David, two of his swimming stars, very much out of uniform.
Page 40 belongs to Jeff in "After Lights Out," stretched on a plaid couch with a magazine open and the dorm gossip running through his head. The rooms are pure period, brick fireplace, shag rug and a peaked officer's cap that turns up on the hearth on the cover and on a basketball by the couch. The cover itself puts three cadets in front of that fireplace with "The Action Line" running along the bottom.
