OBJECT STORY

Surge Studio's beach book: Surf's Up Issue No. 2, "An Al Parker Production," 16 color pages for $8.50. On the cover, three mustached, hairy-chested men crouch in the sand in front of their surfboards, one board painted with a Thor figure.

Turn it over and the back is all action: a bearded man on his knees sucking a standing partner, with a third man at the edge of the frame. Surge is the studio Al Parker co-founded in 1980. The covers are clean and bright, with just a couple of tiny specks.
