AD / OBJECT EDITORIAL RECORD

THE STORY BEHIND THE OBJECT.

WHY IT MATTERS

Pre-Stonewall, full nudity, and not a single barbell for cover. Most physique mags of the mid-'60s were still pretending to be about fitness. This one didn't bother.

OBJECT STORY

El Toro, Volume 1 Issue 1. A cocky, grinning dark-haired stud in a striped crop top on the cover. Inside, every page is a full-color nude with no text at all.

Gardens, a rocky shoreline, a leather jacket, a cowboy hat and rifle. It dates to around 1965, pre-Stonewall, which makes an all-color, no-excuses nude book like this rare. A special piece.
